• The pension claim is created by the Service Record Holder and the corresponding Pay Accounts Office and made available to the pensioner on the portal for verification. This process is known as Pensioner Data Verification (PDV). PDV guarantees to ensure the pensioner has the final say on information sent to Pension Sanction Authority.
• Pensioners can activate additional services through the site to speed the processing of their requests and the signing of declarations, making the entire procedure totally paperless and hassle-free.
• Pensioners can submit appropriate declarations, nominations, and commutation requests through the platform.
Overview for Start of SPARSH – Sparsh Defence Pension
Since the portal’s debut, the Ministry of Defence has signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding to improve its functionality. In February 2022, SPARSH and Kotak Mahindra Bank signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which SPARSH will establish service centres across 14 branches in communities with a high veteran population.
These centres would expand the almost 800 State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNB), and more than 161 DAD offices that already serve as service centres for retirees using SPARSH.
Furthermore, on September 21, 2022, DAD and both banks inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate the Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank across more than 14,000 branches in India as SPARSH service centres.
The goal is to enrol 17 lacks of the 32 lakh defence pensioners in SPARSH by the end of September 2022, and the remainder of the pensioners will do so as soon as possible.
In August 2022, SPARSH distributed more than Rs. 3,090 crores (US$ 378.73 million) digitally to defence pensioners, supporting the Digital India agenda.
The flawless transfer of 562,946 defence pensioners to SPARSH’s digital network in August 2022 was another noteworthy accomplishment.
With 11 lakh beneficiaries or around 33% of all Indian defence retirees, SPARSH has more than 1 million pensioners enrolled.
