Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Union Cabinet has authorized a change to the Armed Forces Pensioners’ and their families’ One Rank One Pension (OROP) starting on July 1, 2019. The pension of previous retirees will be recalculated using the average of the minimum and maximum pensions of 2018 Defense Forces retirees who were in the same rank and had the same amount of service.
Beneficiaries – One Rank One Pension Table for Havildar
This adjustment will apply to Armed Forces Personnel retired up until June 30, 2019 (except from pre-mature retirees, who retired effective July 1, 2014). There would be benefits for about 25.13 lakh Armed Forces Pensioners/Family Pensioners (including over 4.52 lakh new beneficiaries).Pensions that are higher than average will be safeguarded.In addition, family pensioners—such as war widows and disabled pensioners—would be eligible for the payment. Payment for arrears will be made in four semi-annual installments. Arrears, however, will be paid in one installment to all family pensioners, including those receiving Special/Liberalized Family Pension and Gallantry Award Winners.
