The Ministry of Defence has brought on board approx 14,000 service centres for our Defence Pensioners to service them better
The Defence Accounts Department has signed a MoU with Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank to onboard them as service centres under the System for Pension Administration (Raksha) (SPARSH) project, with the goal of providing last-mile connectivity to defence pensioners.
The agreement between Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank, which has 7,900 and 6,300 service centres respectively, aims to give last-mile connectivity to veterans who lack the resources or technological know-how to log on to SPARSH.
The service centres will serve as a SPARSH interface for these pensioners and give them a practical way to update their personal information, file complaints and seek redress, identify themselves digitally each year, have their pensioner data verified, or simply get detailed information about their monthly pension.
The government requests that defence veterans submit their annual identification by February 20.
All military pensioners receiving benefits through SPARSH or the System for Pension Administration (Raksha) must complete yearly identification by February 20th, according to the MoD (Delhi) on Thursday.
According to information available with the defence accounts department, 3 lakh 9,000 366 defence retirees receiving their pension through SPARSH have not yet finished their Annual Identification, the ministry noted.

The SPARSH will be an independent system without any middle organisation which processes pension claims and credits pension payments into the bank accounts of defence pensioners. From only about Rs 57 crores in FY 2020–21 to over Rs 11,600 crores disbursed in FY 2021–22, it has increased rapidly.
Project SPARSH’s primary implementing agency is the Defence Accounts Department.
